The Departure Lounge

We are in the departure lounge and this is one trip I am not able to take with my precious man. Tonight he told me he has to go soon - like someone had just let him know and he was filling me in. It seems to us looking on at the moment he is somewhere between heaven and earth as we hear key words like 'faithful' and 'heaven'. Frustrating hearing one side of the conversation!

Thank you for all you love and prayers. To those who have given financial gifts THANK YOU SO MUCH especially for one large unidentified one!!!

Gotta go now - forgive grammar and spelling - no time to check. Xx Jeanette xx

Sleepy times....

I know some of you are hanging out to hear how Bruce is doing. I get caught up in doing and I forget to write!

This week we have seen a steady decline in his health and he is sleeping most of the time. A new fan-dangled motorized bed is now enconsed in the lounge allowing much easier nursing. I wish they had been around when Dad and I nursed Mum 31 years ago! Might have saved some really big chiropractic bills! I am pleased to report that my back is doing fine!

We are now at the stage where we need someone here with Bruce 24/7. A big thank you to family and friends who have and will fulfill that roll helping me get some off site chores done. It is wonderful to have help from St Jo's just a call away too.

Again - love and thanks to all that have sent cards and notes. Rachel & Lee - got your flowers! Thank you for your thoughts all the way from the UK!

A week later....

Sorry - clean out of witty headings....

I thought it was time to update you all again.

The changes have been gradual rather than dramatic. 10 minutes out of bed or sitting up is now the maximum Bruce can handle. He is finding the simple every day things a challenge as every thing takes so long and he gets puffed out. We are now having to limit the number of visitors daily and also the time spent with him to give him a less sleepy day. Thank you to those who have come some distance for a few short minutes - it has meant a lot to him.

Bruce has been 'blown away' with your words and sentiments recorded by Zoe in a beautifully bound book. He has read them all more than once and can't quite believe he has them. I would like to thank you too as it is a wonderful record about a wonderful man that the grandchildren can get to know as they grow via your words, photos and his music.

Thank you too for the love our family has been extended over this time. It is really appreciated!

Another day.....

Just a quick update. Bruce has been slowly getting sleepier as the week as gone by. The prednisone gave him short lift but we are back to how he was without it now. Food mostly consists of drinks that we have been given from the hospice now and they are not very appetizing I am told.

For me ....it's all about getting used to the changes and realizing they are here to stay....weird! Very glad for my wonderful friends & family and my sweet Rosie dog who makes it her job to keep routine in my life :)

Thanks again for all your notes and prayers. Apologies if I don't get back to you.

Xx J
