Thursday 20th November

Hi again,

Now back from a great time in Fiji. Had a ball. Three days of blobbing out at Warren & Kathryn's superb waterside Villa at Denerau (much nicer than being in one of the hotels) then the 7-day Blue Lagoon Cruise.

Instead of the usual 50 passengers, we only had 29 so it was great from our perspective. We had a very friendly crew who all put their hand to everything (duty-wise). We visited some lovely out of the way spots where they seldom see tourists, then came back via the Yasawa Islands. Snorkelling was breathtaking (not literally, fortunately!). The water clarity, visibility, coral, fish-life etc was absolutely amazing.

Had my appointment with the Haemotologist yesterday following the MRI done just before we went away. It is showing a small amount of tumor cells in tissue alongside where the tumor was at the top of my right tibia bone. A few weeks ago she had speculated that some radio treatment on the leg might be a good idea. Better to just zap it. She is setting this up as we speak. There was talk also of the possibility of a PET scan which highlights any areas of fast growing cell activity. As they don't have the machine in NZ, the ADHB sends patients off to Melborne when required. We'll see what happens.

Jeanette's birthday was yesterday. We had a meal out with her family last night.

Does killing time damage eternity?

Does that screwdriver belong to Phillip?

Does the Little Mermaid wear an algebra?

Ever notice how irons have a setting for "permanent" press? I don't get it.

Cheers,
Bruce
